Wildfire

On May 9th and May 16th, two wildfires were first spotted in Gila National Forest. This fire was thought to have started by lightning. The fire continued to build and spread and on May 24th, the smoke from the Whitewater/Baldy Fire hovered over the towns of Truth or Consequences and Elephant Butte, New Mexico, darkening the sky and making it difficult to breath. This eerie phenomenon put the town in perpetual sunset. The calls of the animals changed and nothing seemed as  it was before the fires.
Initially, there were two separate wildfires, the Whitewater fire and the Baldy fire. These two fires have now merged into one massive fire. As of Sunday, May 27th, there is still zero containment of the Whitewater/Baldy fire. A health alert has been put out regarding the air quality. Twelve homes have been lost to this massive fire so far. I've never experienced anything quite like this before. All of these pictures were taken with a Nikon camera, without any filters or Photoshop.
