Spring break finally arrived and we decided to road trip to the coast. Ironically, a snowstorm blew through Southern California as we crossed the pass to get to San Diego. After a couple of days of stormy weather, the sun came out and Southern California began to live up to its reputation of perfect weather. A good friend of our flew to meet us in San Diego so we picked her up and drove to La Jolla to check out some seals. From there we worked our way up the coast, taking in tide pools, ocean breezes, and beautiful color at each stop. The best place we camped was San Onofre. We hiked the mile and a half to Trestles beach and were entertained by the surfers that flocked to that beach. Laguna Beach offered the best tide pooling of our trip and I finally saw my very first sea hare. We broke up our trip back to New Mexico by stopping in Saguaro National Park and camping in a nearby campground. The wildflowers there were just starting to bloom which gave me a new object to photograph. Once we were back in New Mexico we traveled to Silver City, City of Rocks, and then finally Albuquerque. The trip went by way too fast, however it was so very needed.
